Baptism

Water baptism is an outward expression of faith in Jesus Christ symbolizing the inward reality of faith. As Jesus died, was buried, and then rose to life, baptism physically shows the believer dying to their old life and being raised to a new life in Christ. Though baptism is not necessary for salvation, it is a step of obedience for those who put their faith in Christ. Due to its symbolic significance of salvation, it occurs after one has put his trust in Jesus; therefore, we do not baptize infants. (Matthew 3:16-17; Mark 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:27-41; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:27)
